STEMbotix AR Drone Simulator

Learn. Simulate. Master. Fly Beyond Limits.

The STEMbotix AR Drone Simulator is an immersive drone training and simulation platform designed to help students, educators and drone enthusiasts learn and practice drone flying in realistic virtual and augmented reality environments.

Instead of learning only through theory, learners can interact with simulated drones, navigate different environments, complete missions, avoid obstacles, perform precision deliveries and practice FPV photography challenges.

The simulator supports both iOS AR-based experiences and a Windows desktop 3D simulation environment, providing an engaging way to develop drone handling and mission-planning skills.

Immersive Drone Learning

The simulator provides a practical environment where learners can experiment with drone controls and flight scenarios without the risks associated with real-world training.

Users can practice:

Drone navigation
Altitude and speed control
Obstacle avoidance
Precision flying
Mission planning
Photography and framing
Delivery and precision landing
Flight training and skill development

Multiple Drone Types

The simulator includes different drone categories designed for different applications and skill levels, including:

Racing Drones
Photography Drones
Cargo Drones
Mini Quadcopters

The product design document identifies examples including the Storm Type A racing drone, GoolRC S116 Max photography drone, FlyingBasket FB3 cargo drone and Ematic 2.4GHz Mini Quadcopter.

Realistic Flight Environments

Learners can experience drone flying across different environments, including:

Residential
City
Island
Warehouse

Each environment provides different navigation and flying conditions, allowing learners to practice both open-area movement and precision navigation.

Interactive Training Activities

Obstacle Courses

Navigate through dynamic paths and checkpoints while avoiding obstacles. Collision detection and penalty scoring encourage controlled and precise flying.

Photography Challenges

Use the drone's FPV perspective to frame and capture specific objects or locations, helping learners develop observation, positioning and framing skills.

Delivery Missions

Pick up items from designated locations and deliver them to specific drop-off points. Learners must manage navigation, time, obstacles and precision landing.

Training Mode

A dedicated training mode allows learners to become familiar with drone controls and mechanics before attempting scored activities.

Cross-Platform Experience

iOS

The iOS version uses camera-based AR through ARKit with touch controls and virtual joysticks. Compatible devices require iOS 15 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or newer.

Windows

The Windows version provides a fully rendered 3D simulation environment controlled using keyboard, mouse or compatible gamepads. Optional VR support can be provided through OpenXR-compatible hardware.

Learning Outcomes

With the STEMbotix AR Drone Simulator, learners can develop:

Drone handling and control skills
Navigation and obstacle avoidance skills
Precision flying techniques
Mission planning abilities
FPV observation and framing skills
Precision delivery and landing skills
Flight performance awareness
Confidence in simulated drone operations
